The ACC Division of Adult Education helps
people who:
▪ are not required to be in secondary school
▪ need to improve their skills in reading, writing, and speaking English
▪ need to improve
their skills in reading, writing, and mathematics and need the GED equivalent to a high school diploma

Programs/Classes:
English
as a Second Language (ESL),
EL/Civics,
Adult Basic Education (ABE), and GED
preparation classes.
All classes are free. We do NOT offer testing for the official GED test. That
is offered through the ACC Business Assessment Office.

We have locations throughout Austin. Some of our partners include
Literacy Austin, Austin Independent School District,
Austin Area Urban League,
Austin Housing, and
Austin Public Library. We also offer
some classes (limited availability) at ACC's Highland Business
Center,
Riverside,
Rio Grande,
Northridge,
South Austin, and
Eastview
campuses.

Those Eligible to attend:
Any person 18 years old or older living
permanently in the U.S.
17 year-old students
may attend with a copy of a withdrawal letter
from the last school they attended in addition to the ID requirement.
Students who have been
home schooled
or who have just moved to this area must obtain a withdrawal form from
the school in their area where they would have been required to attend.
16 year-old students may attend with a copy of an official court order and a withdrawal letter from the last school they attended
in addition to the ID requirement.
You are only eligible to enter our ABE/GED classes if you have not
finished high school. You may have a high school diploma and enter
our ESL classes. All attendees must bring an ID that includes a picture and a
date of birth (school IDS and Copies of IDs are not allowed) when you attend
orientation.
