The Austin Community College Board of Trustees adopted this policy on March 4, 1996.

VIII-62. FACULTY/ADMINISTRATIVE APPOINTMENTS

The President may designate some administrative positions as having concurrent faculty status. People placed in these positions may become (or remain) faculty members, being placed on the pay scale for full-time faculty according to their experience and academic qualifications as with other faculty members.

Such faculty members with administrative duties may be paid stipends in addition to their faculty salaries, according to a schedule developed by the President and approved by the Board. Since they serve to reconcile the two different philosophies appropriate to faculty and administrative compensation, the stipend amounts may vary between individuals and from year to year -- their purpose is to bring total compensation to the level appropriate for each particular administrative assignment for a particular year.

The employment security and guaranteed compensation for such employees is in their faculty positions; the President may return any such administrator to full-time teaching duties at any time.

The qualifying period for multi-year faculty appointments and/or the 10-year limit on credit for non-ACC experience may be waived for a faculty position if the President determines that such a waiver is appropriate.
