INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS MEASURES FOR CHEMISTRY
Effectiveness Measure #1
|
Outcome Title |
Tracking Students from CHEM 1405 to CHEM 1411 |
|
Intended Outcome |
Students exiting from Austin Community College's CHEM 1405 (Introduction to Chemistry) will succeed in CHEM 1411 (General Chemistry I), the next course in the sequence. The expected outcome is that 70% of these students will achieve mastery in CHEM 1411. |
|
Assessment Procedure |
70% of students taking CHEM 1411, having previously taken CHEM 1405, will receive a grade of A, B, or C for the course. This assessment will occur at the end of each semester. |
|
Methodology |
OIE will report grades for students in CHEM 1411 who have previously taken CHEM 1405. The data will be collected at the end of each semester after final grades are reported. OIE will tract the data and report to the Task Force Chair who will analyze and be responsible for keeping track of the data. Mastery will be defined a grade of A, B, or C for the course. Non-mastery will be defined as D, F, or W for the course. |
Effectiveness Measure #2
|
Outcome Title |
Tracking Students from CHEM 1411 to CHEM 1412 |
|
Intended Outcome |
Students exiting from Austin Community College's CHEM 1411 (General Chemistry I) will succeed in CHEM 1412 (General Chemistry II), the next course in the sequence. The expected outcome is that 70% of these students will achieve mastery in CHEM 1412. |
|
Assessment Procedure |
70% of students taking CHEM 1412, having previously taken CHEM 1411, will receive a grade of A, B, or C for the course. This assessment will occur at the end of each semester. |
|
Methodology |
OIE will report grades for students in CHEM 1412 who have previously taken CHEM 1411. The data will be collected at the end of each semester after final grades are reported. OIE will tract the data and report to the Task Force Chair who will analyze and be responsible for keeping track of the data. Mastery will be defined a grade of A, B, or C for the course.
