Chemistry Task Force Meeting Minutes

March 26, 2004

2:30 – 4:30 p.m.

CYP – Room 1083

In Attendance: Chris Uzomba, Debbie Sackett, Madan Mohan, Kathy Nabona,

Al Dumbuya, Matiur Rahman, Donna Lyon, Bill Cheek, Marilyn LeBlanc

¨ This meeting was called primarily to adopt a textbook for CHEM 1405, which will be used starting with the Fall 2004 semester. The books nominated were:

Corwin – 4^th edition

Peters & Cracolice – 2^nd edition

Malone – 6^th edition

Goldberg – 4^th edition

All books were listed on the whiteboard, and each attendee was asked to choose their two favorites. After this was done, the 2 books that received the most votes were voted on again. Each attendee had one choice. The Peters & Cracolice, 2^nd edition, was adopted. Marilyn will contact Hadra McKnight, Thomson Learning rep, to get ISBN #’s in order to place bookstore orders for the Fall semester.

¨ Matiur announced that the Chemistry Instructional Self-Study is complete and can be viewed on the OIE website. It is broken down into 3 components: 1) IPRS (Instructional Program Review Summary; 2) PSF (Program Status Form); 3) QIP (Quality Improvement Plan).
