Chemistry Task Force Meeting Minutes
October 30, 1998
I. Agenda
The agenda was approved as listed:

II. Presentation by LRS
Linda Clement gave a powerpoint presentation relating to new and exciting tools available to science faculty. These tools can be used to set up web pages, use the internet in coursewok and search the internet for pertinent information related to course materials. New books purchased for the LRS were tabulated and presented and feedback was given as to materials we would like purchased to enhance the chemistry program.
III. Assignment of Subcommittee for Summer Schedule
The subcommittee will consist of Art Meyer, Debbie Sackett, John Young and Madan Mohan. The criteria was given to each committee member relating to number of sections per campus, time slot availability and guidelines for changes of existing times and courses.
IV. Assign Subcommittee for Interviews of Adjunct Faculty
The subcommittee will consist of Madan Mohan, Art Meyer and Ya-Ping Huang. The responsibility of this subcommittee is to review prospective adjunct faculty applications, interview and assess the eligibility of these candidates for a teaching position.
V. Eligibility List
The finalized list will be decided at the November 20th meeting including the option for Highest Priority to Hire. Each faculty member ( full and adjunct) will formulate opinions as to criteria and eligibility for the next meeting.
The following criteria were accepted:
1. Review of transcript of all adjunct faculty.
2. If the faculty member is qualified to teach the course but, has never taught the course before, they must have a full time faculty member mentor and will not be given priority on the eligibility list for this course.
3. If the faculty member does not have the apparent credentials to teach the course, they must petition the task force to be considered as a viable instructor for the course.
VI. Objectives and Goals of each Course
It was decided to review the goals and objectives of each course to insure compliance within the teaching of these courses. A list is to be compiled and distributed and voted on in February. The following faculty members agreed to compile objectives for the following courses:
CHM 1614 Art Meyer
CHM 1634 John Young
CHM 1644 Debbie Sackett
CHM 2614 and 2624 Steve Kirschner

It was decided that the textbooks for the following courses were open for discussion and review in the spring semester:
