Item 4(b) from the August 20, 1999 Task Force minutes was discussed. It was generally conceded that, pertaining to Lab Technician duties, this item dealt solely with the need for one syllabus per course, per campus.

It was also conceded that more general guidelines are needed to define assistance of instructors for special projects.

The following was written and passed a majority vote of the task force:

If instructors want the following accommodations:

(a) Substitution of labs with Task Force-approved labs

(b) Additional chemicals/supplies for existing labs

(c) Lecture/lab room assistance

The instructor may request reasonable assistance from the Lab Technicians; Lab Technicians have the right to decline.

Any special assistance should not compromise the safety and quality of normal lab activities.
