Discussion: Glen reported that the posting for the new
full-time faculty position is up and applications are being received through
December 4, 2009.
Agenda Item: Dean's presentation
Presenter: Gaye Lynn Scott
Discussion: Gaye Lynn visited with the faculty about the
SBS web page and about her presentation to the Board in December. She encouraged suggestions and
comments.
Agenda Item: Student Success initiative
Presenter: Lisa Perez-Nichols
Discussion: Lisa updated the faculty on our Student
Success Initiative project.
Agenda Item: Innovation Grant
Presenter: Dick Fonte
Discussion: Dr. Fonte alerted the faculty to an upcoming
email regarding participating in a survey on faculty expectations for students
coming into our Government classes.
Agenda Item: Adjunct Faculty Hiring Committee Report

Discussion: Adjunct interviews will take place later this month or in early November.

Discussion: Marilyn reported that most pre-tests had been returned and the post-tests were expected to be returned in the coming weeks.

Discussion: On behalf of Jeff Millstone, Glen thanked all those who worked on Constitution Day and announced that our book club selection for the year is Angler by Barton Gellman

Agenda Item: Curriculum Committee
Presenter: Paz Pena
Discussion: Paz presented a hybrid class proposal from Glen Hunt for Government 2306.
Decision/Follow-Up items: The proposed revised Hybrid course for Texas Government was approved. Paz reported that the committee will be soliciting comments regarding hybrid standards from those teaching them last year.

Agenda Item: Government Department Blackboard Page
Presenter: Cecile Durish
Discussion: Cecile reported that many faculty members had submitted their syllabi for our department Blackboard page and encouraged the remainder to do so. Cecile demonstrated a couple of tips on how to use the Blackboard Gradebook,
Decision/Follow-Up items: Cecile encouraged faculty to also begin submitting projects and assignments to her for inclusion on our Blackboard page.
