Discussion:       Glen welcomed our newest adjunct, Jim Arnold.  Glen passed out the names of the voting members of the department for 2009-10 (see below).

Agenda Item: Adjunct Faculty Hiring Committee Report
Presenter:        Lynn Lehle
Discussion:       Adjunct interviews earlier in the month resulted in two new adjuncts being hired:  Jim Arnold and Ernest McGowen.

Agenda Item: Student Assessment Committee Report
Presenter:        Shina Amachigh
Discussion:       Shina presented the committee's report for the 2008-09 assessment and answered questions regarding the report.

Agenda Item: Faculty Development Committee Report
Presenter:        Jeff Millstone
Discussion:       Jeff thanked Red Wassenich for his presentation on Student Research in Political Science.
Decision/Follow-Up items:  An ad hoc committee of interested faculty was formed to purse a cooperative arrangement with the Librarians to further research opportunities in our classes.

Agenda Item: Curriculum Committee
Presenter:        Paz Pena
Discussion:       Paz presented the draft of the Texas Government learning objectives.
Decision/Follow-Up items: The proposed revised Learning Objectives for Texas Government were adopted as amended.

Agenda Item: Faculty Evaluation Committee Report
Presenter:        Kris Seago
Discussion:       Kris presented the proposed department evaluation process and revised evaluation standards.  After discussion the draft proposal was amended and adopted unanimously.
Decision/Follow-Up items:    The committee will present their recommendations of standards and contents of the portfolio at our next meeting.

Agenda Item: Adjuncts Serving on Adjunct Evaluation Committee
Presenter:        Russ Gardner  
Discussion:       Russ noted the ad hoc committee on the adjunct evaluation process was continuing to meet and encouraged any interest full-time faculty to take part in the meetings.
Decision/Follow-Up items:  The committee will continue to meet.

Discussion:       Roy requested that the following book be added to the list for his Introduction to Political Science class:  Introduction to Political Science (Paperback) by Abdul Rashid Moten (Author), Syed Serajul Islam (Author) •  Publisher: Cengage Learning Asia; 3rd edition (July 31, 2008) •  ISBN-10: 9814253197
