SUMMER 2008 ORIENTATION

LIFE ON EARTH

11 Week Session (16284) (004) May 27 – August 12

Second 5½ Week Session (15601) (003) July 7 – August 12

Students must complete the following orientation activities:

  • Complete the ON-LINE ORIENTATION on the web by going to the  Summer 2008 syllabus . 
  • Read the entire online Syllabus,
  • Watch the streaming videos in the syllabus.
  • Complete and submit the online Student Information Sheet.

You will need your ACC ID number in order to complete the online orientation. This number can be found on any of your ACC receipts or schedules, or on your ACC ID card. It has 7 digits and should start with a one or zero; some ID cards leave off the zero, but add the zero when you use the number. You can also find out your number by going to any ACC Admissions office in person or seeing Dr. Muzos in person during office hours.

Be aware that for this section you will be REQUIRED to have an active web access, an email address, and to use the Blackboard (Bb) system on the internet regularly. Bb will be available to you once the class rolls are loaded, shortly before the beginning of classes.  Instructions for using Blackboard (Bb) are found on the Bb login page at the "Student Guide - Getting Started with Blackboard" link.

If you register late you may need to wait a day or two before you are added to the Blackboard roll.

The Study Guide for Summer 2008 is Life On Earth: Concepts and Questions 4th edition, 2007. It acts as the "text" along with the video episodes. Generally it is available at any ACC bookstore.  The BIOL 1309 Study Guide is also available online. Yes, the online version is the same as the print version.

Normally students are able to take exams as rapidly as they choose during the semester, so you will be able to finish the course early if you choose to do so.


DEADLINES

Students in the 11 Week Section who have not completed all orientation activities by June 6, 2008 may be withdrawn.

Students in the Second 5½ Week Section who have not completed all orientation activities by July 18, 2008 may be withdrawn.
