Lab Administrator Install Info
Before you install any copies of Mathematica on computers
in one of the ACC computer labs, please check with Marcus
McGuff before doing so. We have a limited number of concurrent licenses
available, so we are trying to be careful how many open access computers
we install on. To date, our plans are for installation of Mathematica
in the following locations:
-
Math faculty offices
- Math computer classrooms
- Learning Labs computers (up to 3 machines per campus)
To install Mathematica in your lab (click here
for step-by-step instructions for installation on a single Windows machine):
- If you already have an older copy of Mathematica on your machines,
please uninstall it first.
- Locate the server newton on the network (I use Find Computer
for this) and open it. (You should not need a login or password to do
this.)
- Open the mathematica folder inside it.
- Then, either open Win or Mac, depending on what operating
systems you are running.
- The next step depends on whether you are doing a small number of installs
or a larger number (more than 3, say):
- If you are only doing a few installs, double-click on the Setup.exe
file (icon is a box with a bunch of papers in it).
- If you are doing more installs, please copy all the files in
this directory onto one of your local machines and do the install
from there, since we have limited bandwidth and server resources.
- Choose Network based as the Type of license. and type
in euler.math.austincc.edu as the Name or IP address of license
server.
- Otherwise, I would suggest just taking the defaults for everything
else.
Please contact Marcus McGuff
or the math department's computer techs at mathlabs@austin.cc.tx.us
if you have any problems or questions.
