KJTV: Texas Tech partners with Austin Community College

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Texas Tech partners with Austin Community College to make it easier for students to transfer.

This agreement also launches the "Tech Teach Across Texas" partnership between these two schools.

It allows ACC students to fast track their path to a bachelor's degree from Tech, while earning a state teacher certificate.

"We can't do it ourselves. Especially when you're about 300 miles away from the nearest major metropolitan area. You have to go where the students are. By doing that, you're able to address a certain population of students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to travel to that campus," Texas Tech University President Lawrence Shovanec said.

Students who move from Austin to Lubbock using this program fast track their path to a bachelor of science degree by going from an associate to a bachelors of science in one year.
