Austin Community College (ACC) hosts Due WEST, the annual fundraiser for the 8th Annual West Austin Studio Tour, 6 to 10 p.m., Friday, May 10, at ACC Highland Campus, Building 4000 (6101 Highland Campus Dr.).
The kick-off party and exhibition opening, sponsored by Big Medium, features more than 100 pieces of artwork showing the wide variety of artists participating in the WEST Austin Studio Tour. Dozens of works from ACC students also will be on display, including paintings, photography, sculpture, woodwork, metals, and ceramics.
“This partnership between one of the largest institutions of higher education in the state, and one of the largest art-focused non-profit organizations in the state shows the appreciation of all fine arts,” says Dwayne Bandy, ACC jewelry professor. “By serving as the central hub for Big Medium at WEST, ACC will be able to show it's fine arts programs to a larger audience and allow the community to see the facilities and the high quality work being produced here.”
The WEST Group Exhibition is open to the public during business hours, May 11 through May 19. In addition, ACC Highland will host a number of activities, May 11 & 12 and May 18 & 19 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Events include:
