The Austin Community College District honors the memory of Royce Faulkner, a former ACC Board of Trustee chair. Royce passed away at the age of 89 on June 25, 2019.
“Royce left a mark on Austin that will be remembered for generations to come,” says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC president/CEO. “He committed his life to help others reach their potential. We honor his legacy through our continued efforts to build equity for all students.”
Royce was dedicated to his community and served in many professional and civic organizations. He was particularly devoted to educational programs for young people. Among his many leadership roles, he served as an early Board Chair of the ACC Board of Trustees. He also served as a founding board member of the Crime Prevention Institute, an organization devoted to providing job skills to detainees in the Texas correctional institutions, and chaired the Governor's Advisory Committee for the Capitol Restoration and Expansion project at the State Capitol.
Royce is survived by his wife of 64 years, Donna Mae; his three sons, Scott and wife Catherine, Don, and Brian; grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, and Emily Faulkner; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 1, at the Smith Family Chapel at Riverbend Church (4214 N Capital of Texas Hwy).
The college extends its gratitude and deepest sympathies to the Faulkner family.
