Austin Community College (ACC) is accepting applications for its nationally-recognized nursing program. Students have until February 21 to apply for the fall 2020 cohort. 

The college’s vocational nursing (LVN) program was recently named among the Top 5 in Texas by NursingProcess.org and is recognized nationally for its high-quality and affordable options and the hands-on career training students receive. 

“ACC was the clear choice for me because of its reputation and options,” says Amanda Acosta, ACC nursing graduate. “I spent a lot of time at clinical sites. It’s so important to get that exposure and be prepared to start our career. There are so many schools out there who don’t come close to the clinical time ACC provides.”

Texas employs the largest number of LVNs in the country. That number is expected to grow almost 20 percent in the next decade according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). 

“Austin is growing exponentially. Coming from the San Francisco Bay area, I have already witnessed first hand how rapidly the tech industry can change an area’s population. Those workers are going to need someone to take care of them. Becoming an LVN in Central Texas provides a well-paying, satisfying, and stable career that can follow you anywhere you decide to go. If nursing is your calling, don't quit on it. If you put in the effort and do your best every day, the professors will help you succeed,” says Acosta.
