Snack Box Distribution
Student Life continues to provide a consistent place for students to meet their immediate food needs while on campus with the Food Pantry program. This service was put on hold as we were faced with the need to transition to virtual services. ACC opened to students for face-to-face classes on July 6, and Student Life was there to welcome them back. The food pantry supplies were packed into convenient grab-and-go boxes for students to take. Teams distributed 120 boxes in the first couple of days. Donations during the Spring donation drive helped make the distribution possible.
Summer Software Day
TLED's Faculty Development team hosted ACC's first virtual conference on Friday, July 24. This year's Summer Software Day boasted 1,350 registrations. Attendees engaged with the online conference through Blackboard Collaborate and a Padlet "Social Wall."
Featured speakers included keynote Dr. Katherine A. Troyer, the assistant director of the Collaborative for Learning and Teaching at Trinity University, representatives from ACC's Adobe partnership, and many fellow ACC faculty and staff who shared their expertise with colleagues.
More than 30 sessions were offered synchronously and nearly 20 more continue to be available "on-demand" on the SSD20 website. Additionally, presentations were recorded. All presenter materials are now available online here.
Excellence in Institutional Efficiency Award
ACC is the first community college to receive Salesforce's Excellence in Institutional Efficiency award, which recognizes higher education institutions using Salesforce Education Cloud to increase operational efficiency by providing a holistic, connected campus experience. ACC received the award for its ACCess Internship application, which provides an intuitive, user-friendly application and workflow process for students seeking internships through the college's Office of Experiential Learning. The award was presented at the Higher Ed Summit 2020. Read more here.
