ACC closes in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The Austin Community College District (ACC) is closed Monday, January 18, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The college’s Truth, Racial Healing, & Transformation (THRT) Campus Center will host several virtual events in honor of his life and legacy. The events are free and open to the community. 

  • 12:30 - 2 p.m. | ACC Remembers Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 

    • Students, faculty, staff, and the community will remember the life, liberty, and legacy of Dr. King through discussions, short reflective readings, excerpts of some of Dr. King's speeches, and question and answer period.

  • 2:30 & 3p.m. | MLK Celebration: Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Circles

    • TRHT circle works to "bring about transformational and sustainable change, and to address the historic and contemporary effects of racism."

The college’s mission remains dedicated to providing pathways to higher education and closing equity gaps for everyone. ACC established an Equity Council, made up of 24 districtwide representatives, to help the college reach its equity goals and serve as an advisory team to the chancellor and the chancellor’s cabinet. 

Registration for spring classes remains open through the weekend. The spring semester begins Tuesday, January 19. This spring, ACC offers more than 100 programs from associate degrees to university transfer and certificate options. ACC offers four ways to learn this spring including: flexible online, scheduled online, hybrid, and a limited number of in-person class options.
