Three Austin Community College District (ACC) students will get extra support to complete their educational journey. The ACC Massage Therapy students are in the inaugural cohort of the Massage Heights and Zenoti Foundation’s $50,000 scholarship program for massage therapy students.
Ashley Avalos, Marquisha Mcphai, and Quinnese Reese are among ten students selected nationwide to receive a $5,000 scholarship. Recipients were chosen for their high level of commitment, professionalism, and passion for their future careers as massage therapists.
“Massage Heights is committed to supporting the massage therapy industry through initiatives like these,” says CG Funk, SVP of Culture and Industry Relations at Massage Heights. “Massage therapy is a unique career, and the work of massage therapists is more important than ever in our world today. Through these scholarships, we are helping students achieve their career aspirations while supporting the schools in ensuring graduates are professionally trained and ready to enter the workforce.”
“The Zenoti Foundation is pleased to partner with Massage Heights to extend this scholarship opportunity to students matriculating in massage therapy programs,” says Elizabeth Galloway, Manager of the Zenoti Foundation. “At Zenoti, we truly believe in helping others find their greatness, and joining together for this scholarship opportunity is a perfect example of that.”
ACC’s Massage Therapy program is offered through the college’s Continuing Education Division. It includes lecture and laboratory settings, including 50 hours of clinical work, which can be completed in as little as five months. Students who successfully complete the course are prepared to take the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) exam for licensure as a massage therapist in the State of Texas.
