The landscape of higher education is changing and Austin Community College District (ACC) remains committed to supporting young adults, inside and outside of the classroom.

The college hosts a one-day showcase called Adulting 101 to provide tools to aid in the transition into adulthood.

“It’s important that ACC reaches out to connect with people where they are,” says Loretta Edelen, ACC Community Engagement director. “We want our community to know there are resources to support your educational, career, and personal goals, and ACC is here to connect the dots. At Adulting 101, we will connect students and the community with the right contacts to take that next step in life.”

Students, staff, and the community are invited to attend a mini-workshop on financial planning, plus career exploration and a student panel. Adulting 101 hopes to inspire high school students to start their academic journey at ACC. There will be opportunities for guided tours, sessions to check out a fire truck and hybrid cars, an agriculture stand, and other resources provided by organizations. Free lunch boxes will be provided to visitors.
