Austin Community College (ACC) hosts an Equity Advocates town hall meeting to explore and discuss issues and resources for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) eligible students 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at Riverside Campus, Building A, Room 1154 (1020 Grove Blvd.).
According to a recent College Board report, about 65,000 undocumented students graduate from U.S. high schools every year, and fewer than 10 percent go on to enroll in college.
"Navigating college can be challenging for anyone, but many of our DACA students face additional barriers," says Loretta Edelen, ACC Community Engagement director. "We're here to listen to the issues they face and learn more about what we can do as a college to better support them."
Hosted by ACC's Equity and Inclusion Office, Equity Advocates' meetings are free and open to the public.
