“If you connect it, protect it.”
October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and we want to keep you informed on what that means to Austin Community College District (ACC). Here are some ways to keep your life online safe:
The biggest things to take away: Passwords and being alert!
Passwords
Be Alert
There is a rise around spear-phishing (targeted phishing attacks) during the financial aid disbursement season. Students should be weary of any communication that requests personal information; ACC and the Federal Government will never ask for personal information via email directly.
New issues could arise as more people work and learn from home. You still need to stay alert. ACC set up a Telecommuting Securely page with best practices, including how to safely use conferencing platforms.
Do your part. #BeCyberSmart.
