Austin Community College District (ACC) and Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) launch a new partnership to streamline transfer opportunities for ACC students seeking a bachelor’s degree. The college held its first in-person articulation signing ceremony in more than two years in November to commemorate the new partnership.
“Higher education is the true equalizer. Through these partnerships, we can make college affordable and accessible to everyone,” says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC chancellor. “I am proud of ACC’s work to become the top transfer institution in the state. It is important we provide our community with options to receive a quality education.”
The agreement between ACC and SNHU provides equitable and seamless access to bachelor's degrees. ACC graduates may transfer up to 90 credits toward a bachelor's degree in the following programs:
“At SNHU, we are always eager to help learners find ways to continue their education and advance their skills,” says Jeremy Owens, Associate Vice President, University Partnerships at SNHU. “Through our new partnership with Austin Community College, we are thrilled to help prepare students early to continue their studies with online programs and pathways that will set them up for success.”
Transfer students will be able to complete their bachelor’s degree completely online. Applicable military training also will be considered. Under the agreement, ACC alumni, active employees, and employees' immediate family members will receive a 10% discount on SNHU’s regular tuition rates.
More than half of students enrolled at ACC say they have the intention of earning credits that will transfer. The college is ranked among the top in the state for university transfer success rates, according to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). According to THECB data, more than 65 percent of transfer students earn their bachelor’s degree within four years.
